Aruna Irani – Introduction

Family History

Aruna Irani was born in Mumbai, India, into a Parsi family. Her father, Faredun Irani, was a filmmaker in the Hindi film industry who produced and directed films. Her mother, Shaguna, was also involved in the film industry and appeared in a few films as an actress.

Aruna Irani was the third of six siblings, three of whom were brothers and two of whom were sisters. Her older sister, Menka Irani, is an actress who has appeared in a number of films and television shows.

 Aruna Irani is married to film director and producer Kuku Kohli. They have two children: a son, Porus Kohli, who also works as a film director, and a daughter, Sanaz Kohli.

For several generations, Aruna Irani’s family has been involved in the film industry. Her grandfather, Abdul Rehman Irani, was an Indian film producer and director during the silent era. S. F. Irani, her uncle, was also a filmmaker who made several films in the 1950s and 1960s.
